Commissions FAQ

Hi There,

Thank you so much for your interest in commissioning me to help bring your ideas to life!

Before submitting a commission request, please be sure to carefully read over my Terms of Service!

  1. Are you currently accepting commission requests?
  2. What are your price ranges for commissions?
    • Due to the unique aspects and requirements of creating your original Emma Grace Studios piece, I cannot give you an exact estimate of the cost. However, once I have reviewed your commission request and we have come to an agreement about the preferred medium, sizing, amount of detail, delivery date, etc, I will absolutely be able to give you a ballpark estimate of the cost!
      • *And I know that not everyone can afford to drop hundreds on one piece, so I definitely try to keep that in mind. So if for some reason, you cannot afford the estimate I have given you, we can discuss other options that may be in a lower price range, while still being able to have your idea come to fruition!
    • TLDR: Commission pricing is handled on a case-by-case basis due to the vast amount of factors that go into creating your unique idea. So please, if you have a price range in mind, be sure to also include that in the section that asks you to write a description of what you’re looking for.
  3. How do commissions work?
    • Most commissions begin with a simple description of your commission vision via the Commission Request Form.
    • Once we arrive at a general direction, size, and budget, I send a commission agreement and sketch fee payment request to lock-in a spot in my commission queue. All commissions require an initial $50 sketch fee (applied to project total) then 50% deposit upon sketch approval.
  4. What can I expect when I order a commission?
    • Timeline for a typical commission is as follows:
      • Basic details confirmed & next available kick-off established.
      • Sketch fee paid.
      • Spot in commission queue secured.
      • Commission agreement sent via email.
      • 2-3 weeks following sketch fee payment, you receive pencil sketches via email (typically 2-3 sketches). I will also send your estimated project delivery date at this time.
      • A color sketch and frame options follow, once the pencil sketch is approved.
      • Once the color sketch is finalized, I begin preparing for your piece, building the background and sourcing materials (translation: things will be happening quietly behind the scenes).
      • At project kick-off, I get to work on your piece.
      • I’ll send progress updates and requests for feedback along the way.
      • A final photo will be sent for approval prior to shipping.
  5. What comes with my commission order?
    • You will receive:
      • One (1) finished piece
      • One (1) high-resolution jpg of your piece sent via email
  6. Do you send sketches?
    • Yes, I do! Please refer to question 4 for further details.
  7. Do I get to offer feedback during the process?
    • Of course! Feedback is encouraged throughout the process, but most importantly (1) when compiling answers & materials via the Commissions form (can be found at the bottom of this page); and (2) when you receive the sketches and/or mock-up for review.
  8. What kind of information do you need from me to make my commissioned artwork?
    • You are part of the process! I encourage you to gather and send materials for reference in the creation of your commission such as inspiration images, favorite past works, design boards, interior color schemes, personalized touches, etc. Photos of the room where the artwork will hang + detailed wall/furniture dimensions are also useful.
    • PLEASE try to include higher-resolution images if possible! Doing so allows me to better understand and execute your vision!!
  9. When can I expect delivery of my commissioned work?
    • Generally, 8-16 weeks after I have reviewed and accepted your commission request. The timing also depends on the season (I.e. the winter holiday season I will be relatively busy), but I love a good deadline so if you have something specific coming up—an anniversary, party, etc. I will do my best to get it to you by then.
    • I do ask that if there is a specific deadline, you submit your request at least three (3) months in advance!
    • Client is responsible for the shipping and handling fee (cost will be calculated once the size of the piece is determined).
  10. How do I pay the sketch fee and the commission balance?
    • Currently, I accept payments via Paypal.
    • You can pay in three installments—
      1. Initial $50 sketch fee
      2. 50% deposit up-front to begin your order (after the initial sketch is approved)
      3. The remaining 50% along with the shipping and handling fee when your painting is complete and you are 100% pleased with the finished piece.
  11. Can we discuss via telephone?
    • Unfortunately, at the moment I am not able to discuss via telephone.
    • However, I will be more than happy to set up a Zoom call with you and you may make that request in the “description box” when sending me your completed Commissions Form or you may send me a request via my Contact page).

Here is the Commissions Form page that you may fill out and submit!

If you have any additional questions that were not answered in the FAQ’s, please feel free to send me an email via my contact page and I will typically respond within 24 hours of receiving your email.

Lastly, and most importantly, before submitting your completed Commission Form, make sure you have carefully read over the Terms of Service that can be found at the top of the Commission FAQ page.
